Dales was first set up as a joinery company over 50 years ago called MG Dales Joinery by Dickie Dales and is still trading today manufacturing bespoke joinery products.

Dickie started in the bowling market laying timber laser levelled floors back in 1987 then stepping into artificial surfaces when he started Dales Sports Surfaces Ltd in 1997.  He was joined at this point by Richard White whom has been involved in the business to the present day, with his vast knowledge and experience in the bowling sector, he has been a massive asset to the company.

Dales have prided themselves on being a company that provides a quality product and service.  Richard Steadman moved over from MG Dales Joinery when Dales Sports was established in 1997.  Being a time served joiner he brought a practical side to the business and working under the supervision of Dickie Dales became managing Director in 2002 and worked closely with Dickie until he passed away in February 2009.

The company has grown in stature over the years becoming the world leader in supplying an installing Bowls surfaces worldwide, and now with our own civils division they can take on varied contracts due to their long serving dedicated staff.

Craig Whitham & Stephen Foddering were appointed as the new directors in 2025. With over 50+ years experience in the industry between them, the future of Dales Sports is in safe hands.
