We are proud to be the Company that has made wooden bowls floors the preferred option for Clubs and the Worlds’ top bowlers. Since 1987 our system has proven itself many times over and all the Clubs on our installation list will support this.
Dales Bowls are the world’s leading suppliers of bowls surfaces for outdoor and indoor use. Our artificial outdoor bowling greens are installed throughout Europe, the Americas, the Far East and Australia. Our outdoor bowls surfaces are UV stable and may be used in wet weather conditions. Our artificial indoor bowls surfaces are used for competitions at International and Club Level. We are particularly proud to be the providers of the famous “Blue” Pro-Weave World Bowls Tour Indoor Championship Rink as seen on television.
Installation is carried out by our own regular team of joiners and the materials are prepared in our own workshops by joiners, some of whom have been with Dales Sports Surfaces for the 35 years we have been in business. We have always insisted on the finest quality products and workmanship to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
As well as full size indoor and outdoor bowls surfaces we also offer a comprehensive range of indoor short mat, portable rinks and bowling greens through our Wygreen and Verdemat brands.
PRO-WEAVE Artificial INdoor Bowls Surface
Manufactured exclusively in the UK for Dales
Specification & Features
Pro-Weave is installed over laser levelled floors. Manufactured from 100% polypropylene incorporated into a semiworsted yarn utilizing specially selected high quality coarse and fine denier fibres. This improved yarn provides a tighter weave with reduced elasticity, resulting in excellent and consistent bowling characteristics.
• High quality selvedges for seams that are stronger and last longer.
• Surface colour and texture designed to improve on the cold, dull appearance found on competitive surfaces.
• Can be laid over different underlays to provide characteristics to meet your requirements.
• Available in widths up to 4.6m (15’1”).
Our installation price includes;
• Covering of ditches and the inside face of perimeter banks.
• Full marking of the green ready to play; 25 yard mark, rink numbers and rink markers.
• Live bowl and jack markers.
• Flame retardant profiled foam for end ditches.
• First maintenance visit free of charge or an extended period subject to contract.

INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE
Fitting
Our own directly employed and trained teams do all the fitting. All seams are machine sewn with colourfast and high strength thread. A fully comprehensive on-going maintenance service is provided to ensure that maximum useful life is achieved for the surface.
Underlay
Dales Rubber Crumb underlay is manufactured by Footfall Exclusively for Dales. You can see the specifation sheet here. The rubber crumb underlays currently used are Dales special recipes and options are available if slower green speeds are required. Our surfaces have been fully tested on the various underlays to enable us to assess performance. Normally we recommend a green speed of 17-18 seconds to meet the needs of the majority of bowlers but will be pleased to discuss and advise accordingly.
Maintenance & Guarantee
Our on-going maintenance service includes a free of charge annual inspection to discuss requirements and recommend work as necessary, for example re-tensioning or rotation of panels to ensure maximum overall life. Providing maintenance is carried out as recommended our surface carries a manufacturer’s guarantee.
Our Annual Maintenance will cover the following:
- Free Annual Inspection by our experienced Bowls Managers who will make any necessary recommendations.
- Checking of banks and ditches
- Checking for underlay problems
- Checking of all seams
- Checking the tension of the surface
EPDM Spiked Rubber Tiles
Each mat 500x300mm Manufactured exclusively for Dales in the UK from E.P.D.M. rubber. U.V. stable so useable outdoors or indoors 5 Year Guarantee Meets Bowls Regulations re. Holding Surface Holds Bowls and Jacks in place whilst measuring carried out Cost effective long term against foam and other rubber products.
Work covered by our Maintenance Contract:
- Retensioning of the surface
(up to two dates max. providing that we are allowed to fix dates when we are already in the area). - Repairing of panels, if required.Repairing seams, banks and ditches.
- Checking rink markings and replacing as necessary.
- Checking green speeds.
- Supply and fix “dots” and “T’s”.
